Max Cole is a Senior Partner and founder of the firm, he assists clients in the areas of estate planning, trusts and personal taxation, with a focus on advising high net worth individuals on succession planning alternatives. Max also advises donors, charitable organizations, public and private foundations, and not-for-profit organizations regarding the tax implications of formation, registration, governance and planned giving strategies.
In addition, Max frequently advises clients on estate litigation matters.
He has been instrumental in the setting up of a number of charities whom he not only advises as to their duties and the law but also in some cases acts as one of the trustees. He is fully conversant with the Charities Act requirements in relation to property transactions.
Max's practice encompasses a comprehensive range of commercial real estate matters, including land development and planning; acquisition, disposition and financing; joint venture, co-ownership and partnership arrangements; mortgage remedies; receiver and insolvency proceedings; expropriation on behalf of affected property owners, tenants, business owners or otherwise (predominantly takings and easements for LRT projects, toll highways, subway lines, road widenings and waterways maintenance); real estate disputes; and general corporate-commercial matters. He draws on and works closely with a wide network of planners, surveyors, engineers and environmental consultants to assist clients in the successful, cost effective and timely completion of their projects and transactions.
